For some, running a restaurant is a business. For us, it is our calling. Our passion for food and fine dining comes first, business second. We are a chef-driven restaurant. For you, that means fine dining at its best. We invite you to join us for an unforgettable culinary experience.
Greagry Smith, general manager of Hudson 29 New Albany, was first introduced to the restaurant industry at fifteen years old when washing dishes at a mom and pop restaurant. Since then, food and beverage have always satisfied his creative and artistic side, noting that other fields outside of the restaurant industry have never compared.
A native of Ashland, Ohio, Smith started his career with Cameron Mitchell Restaurants (CMR) in 2013 when he helped open The Pearl in the Short North Arts District. Since then, he has held a range of roles at many CMR concepts including the former Harvey and Ed’s, Martini Modern Italian and Budd Dairy Food Hall.
“It’s okay to make mistakes,” Smith says about his greatest lesson in his professional career. “As long as you make it a learning moment and try to be better the next time.” Smith also tells those interested in pursuing a career in restaurant and hospitality to have fun. “Restaurants can be hard, but if you find a way to make it fun, everyone wins.”
In his new role, Smith most looks forward to having the same impact on the next batch of future leaders as the general managers, in his time with the company, have had on him. Smith’s favorite dish from CMR is the Osso Buco at Martini Modern Italian. Outside of work, he enjoys painting, reading, gardening, fishing, hiking and cooking.
